Itinerary
Once you have arrived at Kotoka International airport you will go through all formalities and after you have come out from the immigration you will be met by incountry travel leader. Should it be that your flight arrives at night there will be snacks awaiting to fill any stomach which is empty. We will get on our bus and drive straight to our hotel for the night. We would not spend much time on briefings and allow you to check in and settle for the night. We will have welcome drinks and dinner in the evening where we get to meet our incountry trip leaders as well as everyone on this trip with us. There will be African drumming and dance perfomances to welcome you into the motherland.
First day in Ghana. We will depart shortly after breakfast and head into Accra, Ghana’s capital proper. We will spend the entire day exploring Accra. We will visit the Independence Square, the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum which is the final resting place of the first president of Ghana. We will also visit the Makola market. We will have lunch and proceed on to our hotel. We will have some downtime and get ready for a nighlife experience. Accra is a vibrant city and will explore a few night fun locations.
We will have breakfast and depart heading west into the Central Region of Ghana. We will visit the Cape Coast Slave Dungeon. After the tour, we will visit the Elmina slave dungeon, the largest and oldest European building in existence below the Sahara. We will drive and check in our beach front accommodation for the night. In the evening we will experience nightlife in Ghana’s top most historical town.
We will go on the next step of our journey. Today we will visit the Kakum National Park, one of the few existing canopies walkway in the world. We will have a canopy walk and after the tour at the rainforest we will head to Elmina. We will have lunch and have downtime at our beach front accommodation enjoyig our vacation.
We will make our way heading north to Kumasi. Enroute we will visit the Assin Manso Slave Market. This is the final and the last point of the slaves before they travel through the virgin forest for 3 weeks to the castles and were shipped to the unknown world. We will proceed to Kumasi, Ghana’s garden city. Kumasi is vibrant city and we will experince nightlife here.
We will visit the Manhyia Palace which is the seat of King of the Ashanti Empire where we will be portrayed to the rich culture of this powerful kingdom and its people. We will visit the cultural center, the sword monument of Okomfo Anokye, the Kumasi fort, and the Kejetia market, West Africa’s busiest and largest open air market. Kumasi is a vibrant city and we will go down the street into some of the local pups tonight and witness night life in the Garden City of Ghana.
We will head north to Mole National Park, Ghana’s largest national park and the home of the largest elephant in West Africa. Enroute we will have a stop over at Kintampo where we will have lunch and visit the Waterfalls that flows in 3 cascades and visit the canopy walk above the waterfalls. Kintampo is a very wonderful location to stop over.
We will spend the entire day today exploring the national park and what Mole is got to offer. We will go on a morning Jeep safari. We stand the chance of seeing wildlife such as monkeys, elephants, warthogs, antelopes, buffalos and more. We will have breakfast on return and spend the entire day at the pool side relaxing viewing elephants and warthogs from a distance. Later in the day we will visit the Larabanga Mosque, Ghana’s renowned and oldest mosque. In the evening we will go for an evening Jeep safari.
We will an early departure and head to the Volta Region of Ghana using the Eastern Corridor. In reaching Wli, we will check in our accommodation where we visit West Africa’s highest waterfalls, Wli Waterfalls. This waterfalls flows in 2 cascades, the upper and the lower falls. We will have a swim in the falls and the brave will get beneath the plunge pool of the falls. We will head back to our hotel before dark where we stay the night at.
We will drive south stopping at the Volta Lake. Enroute, we will stop at the Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary where we have a direct interaction with the mona monkeys. We will kayak on the worlds largest man made lake which will be a lot fun. From here, we will have a tour of the Akosombo Dam, Ghana’s largest hydroelectric dam which provides electricity to Ghana and some of it neighboring countries. We will get to our accommodation where we have lunch, have some downtime and later in day go on a boat cruise on the volta lake. We will stay the night on the shores of the Volta Lake.
Today we will reach Elmina again and will relax after the long journey. Swimming, drinking and taske of Ghanaian cousine.
Simply RELAX day. Some of us can take morning excercise with Joga, bike tour, massage, playing the beach volleyball or just relax around the pool
Early in the morning we will take the whole day tour towards Nzulezi village and we will explore, how people are living on the lake.
